Info: Blind Willie’s songs like all song and stories have identifiable parts. They all have at least a setting, characters, conflict, solution/ending, happenings.
Instructional Objective/Learning Outcome:
- Describe four of the five parts of a story (setting, characters, conflict, solution, happenings).
- Create a story map using all five parts of a story
Materials for each group (4-5 students):
· The Blind Willie McTell Lyrics for “Stomp Down Rider”

· Blank paper to create the story map
Assessment Outcome:
- The students will read the song lyrics.
- After the students have reread the song, they will discuss the parts of a story (setting, characters, conflict, solution, and happenings). On paper provided, the group will construct a story map of the song lyrics.
- The students will then brainstorm ideas for their own music story. They will use a story map to organize their ideas.
- Students will share their songs with the rest of the group. Students will identify the setting, characters, conflict, and solution.
- Students will be assessed by observations while creating the story map and sharing their story map.
