Statesboro Blues: The Story of Blind Willie McTell
The faculty and students of the College of Education have created a website (http://statesboroblues.georgiasouthern.edu) and collected information about the Georgia blues musician, Blind Willie McTell. The story of Blind Willie McTell is an inspiring journey of a boy, blind at birth, with amazing talent for music. Lauded for his 12-string guitar playing capabilities, lyrics and dynamic vocals, Willie left a wonderful legacy of music that is an inspiration to many today.
This site contains materials that can be used in educational settings. We hope that students and teachers of music, art, literature, American history, and civil rights among other study topics will find value in the information collected and presented here. Among the many resources are curriculum guides intended to assist teachers in articulating the contents of this site with established standards.
We are seeking collaborators to continue to develop the site content, provide additional lessons, and contribute to enhancing the overall education value. If you would like to be a contributing editor, go to the website and submit your name and contact info under “Contributors”.
We also wish to acknowledge and thank the many authors and creators of the represented works who have provided permissions and support for our effort.
